I am so excited for this to start and hope that this will be motivating for all of us to get healthy!!! I thought it would be really nice for everyone to introduce themselves and tell us anything you want about yourselves -- including your frustrations with maintaining a lifestyle of nutritious eating and regular exercise -- because hopefully we can help each other over some of the road blocks that we face.
My name is Mary and I have never been what you might call, um, thin. But I have had some weight loss success in the past, so I am hoping to channel some of that inner drive to do it again this time. I haven't gotten to my ideal weight for several years and still have some of my favorite skirts waiting patiently for me in the closet. I didn't get to them this summer, but hopefully I'll be able to take some of them on a trip this winter! I am planning on following the South Beach diet, but also throw in a little Weight Watchers for accountability and portion control. If I come across some yummy recipes I'll try to share them on here for everyone else.
Good luck!
I liked Mary's suggestion about introducing ourselves so here goes. My name is Amy and I have always been the "fat" one in my family. I realize now that as a child I wasn't really fat, just healthy while the rest of my family were all skinny. That sure didn't stop me being teased about my weight and by high school I started getting overweight. As an adult I have struggled to try to keep weight off or loose weight. I have had some success at different points in my life but haven't seen my goal weight of 140lbs since, well, ever. I am currently only 7 lbs less than my highest non pregnant weight, and not too much further off from my highest pregnant weight. I've been getting way too many comments/questions from young children about my big tummy, and decided its time to really do something about it. My goal is to have a better balanced diet while increasing my activity level. To achieve a more balance diet I will have to increase my fruits and veggies while decreasing my grains and meats. I do not like to completely eliminate any one food group but rather try for a healthy balance between all food groups. I will also be trying to avoid processed foods as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck to everyone!
My name is Syndy and although I haven't always been heavy I haven't been exactly thin as an adult either. Growing up I was always told I was "too skinny"...um yeah that screws up a person just as much as telling them they are fat! So I had no boundaries, no limits to portions, and no need control my eating...until I had kids. Now I'd like to be be in the 100's again. I don't have any disillusions that I'm going to weigh 140lbs, I'd like a good 190! Hoping this will also get my hormones back on track and eliminate the threat of having to take nasty medication! Good luck to all of us, and really no matter who "wins" I hope we are all LOSERS!
ReplyDeleteHello everyone,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Andy and I'm the fat kid. My ideal weight is 140, and I haven't seen that since high school, when that was considered "fat". I participated in an online Biggest Loser this summer and found some success, so I'm excited that you are all joining in this venture!
I have been calorie counting - allowing myself 1400 a day - and exercising. My main exercise is walking - 4.5 miles a day - and some basic strength exercises. I'd like to try running, but I won't do that until I reach a specific weight. (No use breaking my knees apart with the pounding.)
I have found some awesome recipes and will be posting them to share. Please do the same - I'm always looking for great ways to incorporate veggies and healthy foods into my food regime.
And amen to Syndy - I hope we are all LOSERS! :)
Hello,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Tresa and I have had a hard time getting logged in on the site! I have never blogged before and I am insecure about it. So here goes!
Even when I was a thin, 124 lbs, I was compared to thinner relatives and told that I would be fat just like my mother, grandmother, great-grandmother...I think you get it. I really started gaining weight once I graduated (right before my 30th birthday) and went to work. Sitting on my hinney for 40 hours a week has really taken its toll.
I am going to try to follow "The Skinny Rules". I recently read it and hope that this contest will help me stay modivated.
